Lens based media

Before we start the week we been asked to take some photos at home from our enviroment and things aroud us:

I had to choose one photo and draw it on the paper. I had chosen the red vase because I liked the shape of it and wanted to try to draw the shadows around it.

The second day started by drawing 6 characters of the persons we know, 3 things from our dreams, our fears and the place we would love to escape. 

We had to select two things and create a story we could use not only our own drawings but drawings from the other persons in the group as well. We had to discuss it and create 3 ilustrative storys and one of it should be presented in front of the group.

Probably it was not enough time to make it three our group did 2 storys. One was wich ridding a bike and the second one was nuns are drowning in the lake. We chossen the second one to presend. Nuns everyday is going to drown themselfs in the lake, one day the lake got dryed, because of the hot summer. Nuns went to shop to buy the onions, when by choping them made themselves cry and cryed all other the lake. Now they can drown themselves again.

 

These are the photos which I took for my story. We had to think about it at home on our sds day. I just went to park and I saw ducks. I made some photos of them when I came back home and met my cat. I thought I could merge those two things... I just went to sleep and was waitng the next day to come. We been told to make 6 pictures on a A1 paper and present our story. So I just took 6 steps on my paper, I used a bit more then 6 photos.

The story: Flock of ducks living in the pond. They having normal jumans life like: job, school and so on. Where is one duck which dont want to go school and thinks its useless. One day ducks decided to move to other area for that they need to get to the other shore of pond. The duck who didint attend the school doenst know how to swim so cant move with the flock. It must stay alone, flock of ducks are leaving. The night is comming and duck stays alone, it starts to wondering why he didnt attend the school and the swimming lessons. Suddenly the cat appears from the dark and suggesting the help. She knows the way where you dont need to swim and you can get to the other shore easily. Duck saw the cat for the first time in his life, he heard that she might not be good, but he didnt attend the school so he wasnt sure about it! he falowed the cat. The duck been trapped and become the cats dinner, just because didnt attend school.

I realised that all the week been about creating some stories and merging the things together. I liked to do that but sometimes its hard when you must create a story in a group and where are 4 different persons with 4 different opinions and we need to make ONE story. It takes twice longer when to do it by yourself. I liked the movie we saw on the second day about things happening in Scotland. Was really sad. If I would need to do something different I dont really know what I could change in here, but probbaly everything will be more critical to myself and my storys whose was just created to fast. I didnt like one thing on this week, when we do talk and discuss to much, excecially on the last day when all the day we didnt learn nothing new just created story based on 6 pictures and those pictures we already had at home. snd the rest of the day we been talking and discusing. First time I felt bored in here. I think lens based media its really interesting pathway except boring talks, which in my opinion didnt made any difference. 

Graphics

Graphics week started!. I am really not sure which pathway to choose. I was curious of graphics a lot. So we met Andy our Tutor, who is very charismatic person, for the start of the first day he showed as the power ppoint presentation about him and the pathway also the movie from 20th century. After the break we came back with the new task: to draw faces by left hand, using just mouth, using just one line, using left hand and with the closed eyes. Whose are the pictures of the drawing I took:

The next task after the break was to draw some part of the body, which was the ear. I choose the girl who was sitting in front of me and had a nice earrings in her ears. After we finished our drawings we had to bring all of them together, so many ears in one place!

The topic of the day was faces. So now we needed to create the collages using faces from magazines and newspapers. These are the pictures how I was moving to the final piece which had a shoulders as well:

Type. The task was to create 10 different types when to choose one and make all the alphabet by using your chosen one. I selected the type with green background made from crayons and letters cutaway with blade.

Later on we bring some lighting boxes and type books. Chosen some words which describes us as a persons and made a composition, mine looked like this:

All the week we been asked to think about the final day - Friday when we will have to present ourselves after 20 years. Who we might be in future? I found it really interesting and kind a funny because you will never know what gonna happen in 20 years and you can create what ever you want to. I thought I need to do it like a newspaper, so on my way to school I just bought daily mail (which wasn't the best idea probably) and started to stick all my paintings made before. I changed the years to 2033 and because its a newspaper it supposed to have some sensational news. How I can connect myself with the London in 20 years? So I thought the Queen mother would be great and she is opening the new underground station by the title of my name(line would be to much), it suppose to mean that the stop might be my gallery or something. I just let myself to stick my head next to the queens and make it one of the newspapers news. 

After we finished our piece we stick them together and I saw really few nice works and I realised that I like the the ads where are not to many information and pictures like it was in mine. I think I made mine just to messy to many information and its because I had to many ideas. Anyway I been asked why I choosen Daily mail? I dont know was the first newspaper on my way to school, I am not from this country so it makes no sence for me. And everyone been smilling when saw myself with the queen. So my advertisement was a big fun for everyone! But I didnt planed it to be like this, it just happened and I had fun to create it. 

I liked to try drawing by left hand and with clossed eyes I think I enjoyed it the most and the drawing looks quite good. Didnt like it by mouth because not even one pencil was comfortable for me and the piece looks awful... And something about types, I though I had more imagination to create different types, I found it hard to amke 10! Next time I just need to bring more diferent media and it would look much better.
